Gratuities (Tipping Guide)

Tipping is customary in the safari industry and serves as a direct way to acknowledge the hard work and excellent service provided by your safari team. While entirely discretionary and based on your satisfaction, the following ranges are commonly suggested:

Professional Hunter (PH)

This is typically the most significant gratuity, acknowledging their skill, dedication, and the overall success and enjoyment of your hunt. A common range is $100 - $200+ per hunting day.

Trackers & Skinners

These vital team members work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure your hunting success and proper trophy preparation. A pooled gratuity of $20 - $40 per hunting day (to be split amongst them) is generally appropriate.

Camp Staff (Cooks, Housekeepers, Waiters, Laundry)

These individuals ensure your comfort and well-being at the lodge. A pooled gratuity of $20 - $30 per hunter/observer per day (for the general camp fund) is a good guideline.

Important Notes

  • Gratuities are typically given at the end of the safari.

  • Cash (USD or local currency) is generally preferred for tips.

  • Please feel free to discuss any questions regarding gratuities with your outfitter or camp manager during your safari.
