Pre-Trip Essentials

Preparing for Your African Safari

A successful safari begins long before you set foot on African soil. Careful planning for your travel documents, health, and logistics is paramount. This section guides you through the essential preparations to ensure a smooth and worry-free start to your Infinite Safaris adventure.

Visas & Entry Requirements

Visa and entry requirements for African countries vary significantly depending on your nationality and the specific destination (e.g., South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana).

Flights & Travel

Johannesburg (OR Tambo International Airport – JNB) serves as the primary international gateway to Southern Africa, offering connections to various domestic airports in South Africa and other African countries where Infinite Safaris operates.

Health & Vaccinations

Your health and safety are paramount. We strongly advise consulting a travel health professional or your family doctor at least 4-6 weeks before your departure to discuss specific health precautions for your chosen destination(s).

Routine Vaccinations

Ensure all your routine vaccinations (e.g., MMR, DTP, Polio) are up-to-date.

Recommended Vaccinations

Depending on your destination within Africa, vaccinations for Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and Tetanus may be recommended.

Yellow Fever

A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is required if you are traveling from or transiting through a country with a risk of Yellow Fever transmission.

Malaria Risk

While Farm Loskop in the Free State, South Africa, is generally a malaria-free area, some of Infinite Safaris' other hunting destinations (e.g., parts of Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia, and specific northern regions of Botswana) may pose a malaria risk. Your doctor will advise on anti-malarial medication if needed for your specific itinerary.

Personal Medication

Bring an adequate supply of any personal prescription medications, clearly labeled, and preferably in their original packaging, along with a copy of your prescription.

Travel Insurance

Comprehensive travel insurance is an absolute necessity for your African safari.

  • Mandatory Coverage: We highly recommend and may require coverage for medical emergencies, including emergency evacuation from remote areas, and trip cancellation/interruption.

  • Additional Coverage: Consider coverage for lost luggage, delayed flights, and specific hunting equipment.

  • Policy Review: Carefully review your policy’s terms and conditions to ensure it adequately covers all aspects of your safari adventure.
